Peri-menopause is described as the years when the transition to menopause begins. It can be a 5-10 year cycle or even longer for some.
Menopause is one full year without a period
Post-menopause is the time after the full year or no menstruation.
Starting in peri-menopause, the fluctuations in hormones can influence the pelvic floor and its moisture, sensation, and function. Being aware of these changes and being proactive is key. I also recommend working with a menopause practitioner and/or a naturopathic doctor to keep your hormone levels in check.
